AGESA 1.0.7.0 Fixes Temp Control Issues Causing Ryzen 7000 Burnouts

Igor's Lab reports that AMD's new Ryzen 7000 burnout firmware fix, AGESA ComboAM5 patch 1.0.7.0, addresses further bugs surrounding Ryzen 7000's temperature control system. The new combo patch now sets a forced SoC voltage limit of 1.3v and packs in new SMU bug fixes to ensure the processors do not go beyond their temperature specifications.

AMD's EPYC Genoa-X server processors with 3D V-Cache will arrive later this year. An alleged engineering sample (ES) of the EPYC 9684X has gone up on sale for $1,300 on a second-hand Chinese selling platform. The Goofish(opens in new tab) seller claims the processor wields 96 cores and 1,152MB of L3 cache.

Intel Says Goodbye to Rocket Lake CPUs

Intel this week announced plans to discontinue its higher-end 11th Generation Core 'Rocket Lake' processors, which are made using its 14nm-class process technology. The CPUs will still be available to Intel's partners for a while, but their days are now numbered. Intel also said it will phase out its 400 and 500-series chipsets for processors in LGA1200 packaging.
