Paul Alcorn, Deputy Managing Editor for Tom's Hardware US , met with AMD CTO Mark Papermaster on the sidelines of ITF World, a conference hosted by semiconductor research firm imec in Antwerp, Belgium, for an interview to discuss some of AMD’s plans for the future.

As spotted by Linux publication Phoronix, Intel released CPU microcode updates for processors all the way back to Coffee Lake on Friday afternoon. Unfortunately, the changelog doesn't delve into details other than that the new microcode fixes an undisclosed security issue.

Igor's Lab reports that AMD's new Ryzen 7000 burnout firmware fix, AGESA ComboAM5 patch 1.0.7.0, addresses further bugs surrounding Ryzen 7000's temperature control system. The new combo patch now sets a forced SoC voltage limit of 1.3v and packs in new SMU bug fixes to ensure the processors do not go beyond their temperature specifications.

AMD's EPYC Genoa-X server processors with 3D V-Cache will arrive later this year. An alleged engineering sample (ES) of the EPYC 9684X has gone up on sale for $1,300 on a second-hand Chinese selling platform. AMD Ryzen 7000's Tiny RDNA2 GPU Overclocked to 3.1 GHz AMD's latest Ryzen 7000-series processors for desktops based on the Zen 4 microarchitecture feature a tiny RDNA-based graphics processing unit inside their I/O die (IOD).

Intel this week announced plans to discontinue its higher-end 11th Generation Core 'Rocket Lake' processors, which are made using its 14nm-class process technology. The CPUs will still be available to Intel's partners for a while, but their days are now numbered. Intel also said it will phase out its 400 and 500-series chipsets for processors in LGA1200 packaging.

Kingston Server Premier DDR5 4800MT/s RDIMMs will be launching on January 23rd, 2023. These new parts are targeting Intel’s 4th Gen Xeon Scalable processor platform (aka Sapphire Rapids-SP on Eagle Stream), and AMD’s EPYC 9004 series (Genoa).

Intel has raised the pricing of its 12th-gen Alder Lake processors in its online Ark product database, reflecting a 10% increase in pricing for the company's previous-gen desktop PC chips. In some cases, that can be a ~$60 increase in the price for a chip.
